LET’S WORK TOGETHER TO DELIVER POSITIVE CHANGE
I want to be Metro Mayor because I believe in this region, and I believe in the talent and potential of our people. I believe we need a fresh start and radical ambition to make our City Region successful and prosperous.
I want to help build a modern economy that creates opportunities for every family and community. I want to protect our environment, and safeguard our green spaces and precious natural assets.
I want to see a region that’s inventive and thriving, that pioneers new services and guarantees the health and happiness of its citizens. I want to be a Mayor who listens, who is accountable and accessible and will work with every borough, every community, citizen and business to deliver positive change and real hope.

LET’S CHOOSE THE FUTURE
I will be a listening Mayor, building on my experience of listening to the views of the community I represent as an MP to ensure that everyone across our region has a voice and that it is properly heard.
We’re the only region in Europe that is divided by bridges and tunnels that are a cost to our people and businesses. Together we can work to remove the obstacles that prevent our region from achieving its true potential.
Working together we can unleash our collective potential and display the invention, resilience and resourcefulness that will help us deliver positive change and make a real difference to all the people of our region, even in the face of austerity and a heartless Tory government.
It’s time for us to become a region that punches its collective weight on a global scale. We have a history of giving the world pioneering social reformers, changing popular culture and developing outstanding international businesses. In an increasingly competitive world I want to give our region back its edge and help return it to being a place that sets standards and raises the bar.
We have outstanding natural assets and a history of public health and housing innovation, yet too many of our people still live in poor quality housing, shop, work and play in poor environments, or suffer ill-health. I want to tackle inequality, and help make a happy, healthy and beautiful region for us all.

ABOUT LUCIANA BERGER
I live and work alongside the brilliant, inspiring and community-minded people of Liverpool Wavertree. I have had the privilege of representing this part of our region as a Member of Parliament since 2010.
I grew up amidst the shameful social division of the Thatcher years. It was a nasty period of our history. Communities were torn apart. Vulnerable people were left to sink or swim. That is why I do the work I do.
I believe in listening, understanding problems and bringing people together to make change possible.
WHY WE NEED A METRO MAYOR FOR THE REGION
I believe that this is an opportunity to deliver radical change. It’s a chance to take power and resources from London and give our region a stronger voice nationally and internationally.
The Metro Mayor will be directly elected by all voters in Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral and work with the existing council leaders to deliver for all the people of the region.

WHY LUCIANA BERGER IS STANDING
I am standing in order to offer radical change and real hope. I have made a home in this region and I believe in its future. I want to create an economy that provides high value and rewarding jobs for our young people. I am not prepared to see our region relegated to the second tier of UK City Regions behind places like Manchester and Leeds.
The election of a mayor for our region is our opportunity to have a new approach with new ideas and make sure we have a City Region for the 21st century and beyond.
